Golden Harvest Corn hybrids from Syngenta again outyield competition in national comparisons

  • Hybrids feature industry-leading traits and technologies, including Agrisure Artesian®, Agrisure Duracade® and Agrisure Viptera®
  • With the Y.E.S. Yield Engineering System™, Syngenta researchers have improved the breeding cycle and accelerated the rate of genetic yield gain
MINNETONKA, Minn., USA – In a year when U.S. growers produced a record corn harvest1, those who planted Golden Harvest® hybrids were among those who experienced higher yields than the competition. In 11,159 comparisons, Golden Harvest carried an average +1.5 bushels per acre advantage over hybrids from DeKalb and Pioneer2.

“This competitive 2014 performance once again demonstrates the consistency, reliability and high yields of Golden Harvest Corn hybrids,” said Eric Boersma, manager of corn seed product marketing at Syngenta. “We are committed to helping farmers grow more corn through industry-leading innovation, and these results show that the breakout genetics and breakthrough traits and technologies in Golden Harvest hybrids truly translate to more bushels in the bin.”

Last year’s performance echoes 2013, when Syngenta corn hybrids also outyielded the competition in a majority of national yield comparisons3. This consistency is the direct result of the Y.E.S. Yield Engineering System™, which Syngenta researchers use to improve the breeding cycle and accelerate the rate of genetic yield gain in corn hybrids. The Y.E.S. Yield Engineering System has made high-yielding Golden Harvest hybrids available to growers more quickly than ever before, offering them access to the latest traits and technologies to deliver measurable results.

Industry-leading innovations found in Golden Harvest Corn include:
  • Agrisure Artesian®, an elite class of hybrids that convert water to grain more effectively than other hybrids. Artesian™ hybrids maximize yield when it rains and increase yield when it doesn’t.
  • The Agrisure Duracade® trait, which features a unique mode of action that makes it an essential tool for managing corn rootworm. Agrisure Duracade is available in two E-Z Refuge® trait stack options for above- and below-ground insect control in a 5 percent single bag refuge.
  • The Agrisure Viptera® trait, which consistently delivers high-quality grain by controlling ear-feeding insects – including corn earworm, black cutworm and Western bean cutworm – and therefore reducing the potential development of mycotoxins. Agrisure Viptera is the foundation of multiple trait stacks that deliver control of up to 16 above- and below-ground insect pests.
Golden Harvest hybrids with these traits and technologies are again available in 2015, providing growers with a range of options to match each unique field.

“We always recommend growers draw from multi-year data to select the right hybrids, as this will best predict performance,” said Tim O’Brien, Ph.D., Golden Harvest Corn product manager at Syngenta. “Year after year now, we’ve seen Golden Harvest hybrids consistently perform at or above the competition, so growers should again have a lot to look forward to in 2015.”
