Force® Evo name for newest Syngenta corn insecticide

  • Pending EPA registration, Force Evo liquid insecticide will deliver superior control of corn rootworm and other early-season pests
  • New formulation will provide enhanced user experience, including easy-to-load convenience, speed and efficiency
GREENSBORO, N.C., USA, – Syngenta has announced Force® Evo as the name of its newest liquid corn insecticide. Upon registration, the product will offer superior control of corn rootworm (CRW) and other early-season pests, while delivering an exceptional user experience. Syngenta anticipates EPA registration in early 2017.

“The name of this new product, Force Evo, represents the evolution to a more sophisticated formulation that offers corn growers increased at-plant efficiency and convenience while delivering the same proven pest control growers have come to trust with Force brand insecticides for the past 25 years,” said John Koenig, technical lead at Syngenta. “As farmers’ practices change, we continue to look for opportunities to enhance our insecticide offerings to meet their needs.”

For farmers who want the convenience of a liquid insecticide, Force Evo will facilitate easier cleanout, better pumping flowability and more efficient emptying of bags. Facilitating easy-to-load setup, speed and efficiency, Force Evo will also be fully compatible with commonly used starter fertilizers.

The collective knowledge from dozens of research and development scientists, chemists, packaging engineers and technical experts makes it possible to improve pest control options for farmers.

After extensive testing in Syngenta Applications Technology labs, Force Evo exceeded key performance indicators in formulation development design. As an improvement from Force CS, Force Evo will have improved cold weather tolerance and freeze-thaw performance, and result in less residue on equipment surfaces. With greater formulation benefits, Force Evo will reduce probability of exposure to the product.

Evidence from the field indicates that soil-applied insecticides will continue to be an integral part of CRW management.

“In areas with high CRW pressure, a trait is often not enough to defeat yield-robbing pests,” Koenig said. “Syngenta trials show that Force CS and Force 3G deliver an average increase of 10 bushels per acre when used on top of single or double stack CRW traits.”

Upon registration, Force Evo will be labeled for application both in-furrow and as a T-band, targeting yield-robbing pests including corn rootworm, cutworms, seedcorn beetles, seedcorn maggots, white grubs and wireworms. Growers will be able to use the product on field corn, popcorn, seed corn and sweet corn.
