Syngenta has agreed to pay a $766,508 civil penalty to EPA for alleged record keeping and documentation violations, under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). The consent agreement and final order (CAFO), signed by Syngenta and EPA, states explicitly: “Syngenta neither admits nor denies the factual allegations.” Syngenta also will launch a $436,990 supplemental environmental project (SEP) over the next four years, focusing on customer education and awareness of EPA’s regulatory requirements for bulk pesticide containers, labels and record keeping.
We promptly implemented measures to address the alleged violations and confirm we are in compliance with the relevant FIFRA requirements. We will continue to review our business record keeping, systems and practices internally, as well as externally with customers and contractors, to ensure compliance with all relevant FIFRA and EPA requirements.
