GREENSBORO, N.C., USA, Aug. 30, 2018 — Nonprofits with projects that promote agricultural and science education or help relieve hunger are eligible to receive grants of up to $10,000 through the Syngenta Community Grant Program. Created in 2002, the program supports charitable organizations, schools and government agencies. Grants are available to organizations serving the communities near Syngenta’s four largest U.S. sites:

  • Greensboro, North Carolina
  • Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
  • Minnetonka, Minnesota
  • St. Gabriel, Louisiana

Through its Community Grant Program, Syngenta focuses corporate giving on local initiatives that support important community needs, including: agriculture and/or STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) education; hunger relief; and water and land conservation. The program empowers Syngenta employees to select and distribute funds to local nonprofit organizations.

Additionally, the program embodies the commitments of The Good Growth Plan, Syngenta’s strategy to help sustainably address the global food security challenge by 2020. The Syngenta Community Grant Program helps bring The Good Growth Plan to life on a local level, by recognizing and supporting organizations that share Syngenta’s passion for sustainably feeding a hungry world.

“Addressing hunger insecurity in our communities and feeding a growing world population are among the most important goals for Syngenta,” said Shelley Olds, community engagement lead for Syngenta in North America. “By targeting education efforts that focus on agriculture’s challenges today and tomorrow, we can spread our funds to reach more people and make a bigger impact.”

Applications for the Syngenta Community Grant Program are being accepted through Sept. 28, 2018, for the 2019 grant year. All applications are reviewed by a Syngenta employee team, which selects recipients based on innovative approaches and solutions, long-term impact and the most efficient use of funds. Those interested can find more information, as well as the 2019 application, here.
