Syngenta Consolidates U.S. Communications with Martin Williams Advertising, Gibbs & Soell PR

  • “One Syngenta” strategy integrates Crop Protection and Seeds businesses
  • Drives consolidation to one advertising and one PR agency
  • Martin Williams, Gibbs & Soell worked together on Crop Protection business
Greensboro, N.C., USA –Syngenta in North America has named Martin Williams Advertising and Gibbs & Soell Public Relations agencies of record for its agricultural business in the United States. Both agencies were incumbents.

Syngenta previously had separate advertising and PR agencies for its Crop Protection and Seeds businesses. The company announced in February 2011 that it would fully integrate those businesses to focus on the customer and develop technology solutions under a new business structure organized by crop. This led to a consolidation of agency responsibilities.

Gibbs & Soell and Martin/Williams have worked with Syngenta Crop Protection and its legacy companies since 1971 and 1985, respectively. The Seeds brands have been handled since 2008 by Weber Shandwick and Campbell Mithun, who have helped Syngenta launch several successful brands.

“We had four great agencies,” said Greg Peters, Syngenta head of marketing services, “but felt we needed to get that down to one advertising and one PR agency to best support our ‘One Syngenta’ strategy for Crop Protection and Seeds. Martin/Williams and Gibbs & Soell have each done excellent work for us in recent years. Beyond that, they’ve been very effective working collaboratively as a team on integrated campaigns.”

“We are very excited to help make this new Syngenta strategy meaningful to its customers,” said Mike Gray, president of Martin Williams. “We feel good about our long relationship with Syngenta and look forward to this expanded role.”

“Syngenta has an exciting story to tell,” said Luke Lambert, president of Gibbs & Soell. “The company is helping to move agriculture into an ever more productive and efficient future, and we’re honored to be a partner in this.”

Syngenta operates major North American sites in Greensboro, N.C. and Minnetonka, Minn.  The company plans to complete the agency transitions by the end of this year.
