Our state-of-the-art research facilities located throughout the Americas are incubators for innovation in the field and in the marketplace, and trials conducted at these sites allow us to showcase the newest and most exciting developments in our vegetable breeding program.

Syngenta Vegetable Seeds Trialing Locations

This site is home to the Syngenta Global Cucurbits Center of Excellence and serves as a hub for corn, cucurbit and fruiting vegetable research. In 2015, Syngenta completed an $11.2 million expansion of the R&D and seed production facilities. Greenhouse and specialized plant growth environments provide the opportunity for innovation and collaboration across a wide variety of crops.

With close proximity to both the highest concentration of cucurbit breeding companies in the United States and the University of California-Davis, our Woodland site is in the heart of the action. Products shown at this site are translatable to the Latin American market, and we are proud to host a contingent of U.S. and international customers at this site every year.

A key agricultural area in the U.S., Plainfield is a strategic research location for fresh and processing markets. Advancements in vegetable breeding are showcased at this site with customers from the Midwest as well as abroad. Trials are conducted on a range of products including processor and fresh market sweet corn and beans, as well as watermelon and melon, pepper and new varieties of pumpkin.

Located in the Finger Lakes region of New York, trials conducted in this location are hosted by the Seneca Research Station. Seed resellers that visit the site each year have the opportunity to see a range of the latest products from multiple seed companies. The products displayed in the New York trials are translatable to the Canadian market, making this trial location beneficial for both northeast U.S. and Canadian markets.

The Gilroy research station serves customers in northern California, with trials conducted on a wide range of fresh market crops. Located near the Salinas Valley, this station is in the heart of the largest leafy and brassica growing area in the U.S.

This site is a key global center for research and development in large-seeded vegetables in addition to solanaceae crops. With 110 acres of farmland and 43,000 square feet of active greenhouse, this location is instrumental in the introduction of new varieties.

This station lies just south of the frost line in Florida, allowing two generations per year of most crops. It includes more than 100 open-field acres and contains more than 60,000 square feet of greenhouse space, as well as controlled growth environments and laboratories.

This trial location showcases Syngenta breeding innovations in top crops such as tomato, blocky sweet pepper and cucurbits. Close proximity to the east coast vegetable market makes this site a key location for customers.
