Steps for Weed Resistance Management

  • Start clean, utilizing tillage or an effective burndown, plus a preemergence herbicide with residual control
  • Use multiple effective sites of action with overlapping residuals to help delay herbicide tolerance or resistance
  • Always use a 2-pass system of a preemergence herbicide followed by a post-emergence herbicide at the full label rates
  • Do not allow weeds to go to seed and add to the seed bank, as this can result in generations of herbicide-resistant plants
  • Utilize good agronomic practices, such as narrow rows and increased plant populations, to promote crop growth and competitive ability
