Syngenta Awards Funding to Five North Carolina Organizations Through RTP Community Grant Program

Program supports local organizations working to advance education, sustainability and community development.

Syngenta awarded a combined $21,000 in funding to five organizations across North Carolina through its RTP Community Grant Program for 2026, helping to strengthen communities by investing in local education.

The 2026 grant recipients and funding details include:

  • Cary Senior Center Community Garden received $1,000 to support garden infrastructure, tools and programming that bring residents together through gardening and education.
  • Friends of Wake Soil and Water Conservation District received $5,000 to expand youth conservation education, student scholarships and volunteer opportunities.
  • Karen Community Farm received $5,000 to support farm operations and provide culturally appropriate food access for Karen refugee farmers in the region.
  • Kind Kitchen Group received $5,000 to fund its Garden-to-Kitchen Youth Program, which teaches young people where their food comes from and how to develop healthy cooking habits.
  • North Carolina Science Fair Foundation received $5,000 to support teacher workshops in DNA barcoding, equipping educators with innovative tools to bring hands-on biotechnology experiences into classrooms.

The 2026 recipients were selected from 58 applications, a milestone for the program, for their close alignment with the RTP Community Grant Program’s mission of supporting education, sustainability and community development. Together, the selected projects reflect the ways that local organizations are making a difference across their communities by advancing STEM education, agriculture, food security and environmental stewardship.

Supporting local communities for 11 years, the Syngenta RTP Community Grant Program invests in nonprofit and educational organizations that drive understanding of agriculture and its critical role in feeding a growing population while protecting the environment. Over the years, the program has provided funding for dozens of organizations and initiatives that inspire future leaders, encourage scientific curiosity and create lasting community benefits.

“A 16% increase in applications this year reflects both the continued momentum behind the RTP Community Grant Program and the meaningful work happening within our local communities,” said Lynne Mumm, Collaborations Licensing Manager at Syngenta and member of the RTP Community Grant Committee. “Each recipient is creating opportunities that can have a lasting impact, whether by supporting sustainable agriculture, improving access to nutritious food or inspiring the next generation through conservation, environmental stewardship and hands-on science education. We are proud to support their efforts and help extend the positive impact they are making across North Carolina.”

The active involvement of Syngenta employees is a hallmark of the RTP Community Grant Program. Volunteer committee members dedicate their time to reviewing applications, evaluating proposals and selecting projects. Their work reflects the commitment Syngenta has made to helping communities thrive through science, innovation and collaboration, extending the company’s purpose beyond the office and labs to the communities where employees live and work.
