YOOM tomato wins Fruit Logistica Innovation Award 2020


WOODLAND, Cali., USA. February 13, 2020   ̶ 
 The exciting new YOOM® tomato has won the prestigious Gold Award at the industry-leading Fruit Logistica Innovation Awards 2020 in Berlin, Germany this month.

YOOM stands out for innovation as both a unique purple cocktail tomato for its appearance and taste, as well as the pioneering variety’s packaging and promotional support that has won acclaim from retailers and consumers alike.

Commenting on the award at Fruit Logistica, Syngenta Head Vegetable Seeds Americas, Javier Martinez-Cabrera, said: “This is an exciting acknowledgement from the global fresh produce industry of the genuine innovation offered by YOOM.”

The new YOOM tomato variety stands out visually to consumers thanks to its highly attractive purple color. On the palate, its powerful umami taste enhances the intensity and flavor of foods. YOOM delivers a unique taste experience and contribution to healthy meals for today's consumers.

The Fruit Logistica Innovation Award is presented annually at Fruit Logistica in Berlin. It honors outstanding innovations in the entire fruit and vegetable supply chain from production to the point of sale. It recognizes the ten best innovations in the international fresh fruit and vegetable industry.

YOOM tomatoes are currently available in Australia, Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece and Spain; distribution will begin soon in markets such as Austria, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States.
