A Season of Strong Performance in the Fields and on the Racetrack

From one of the fastest teams in NHRA drag racing to one of the fastest-growing national seed brands, the 2022 season resulted in performance records

As the official agricultural seed of John Force Racing for the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, NK Seeds was literally on the fast track in 2022. More importantly, we helped farmers race toward their own yield and profit potential by offering the newest standouts and tried-and-true favorites.

Not only was our logo prominent on JFR cars and uniforms (or “fire suits” to those up on their racing terminology) throughout the season, but resellers and farmers from across the Corn Belt got to see the action from the grandstands for the Mile-High Nationals in Denver, Colorado, the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the Carolina Nationals in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As we gear up for 2023, we pause to look back at last season’s highlights and challenges and consider what it takes to achieve success in the fields and on the racetrack.

Five Parallels between the 2022 Growing Season and the JFR Racing Season

  1. Both set performance records. The 2022 season was an exciting ride for the JFR team and for NK farmers alike. On the track, Brittany Force set 16 track records, including the national top fuel speed record at 338.94 MPH, pushing her to a 2022 championship. In the fields, NK Seeds beat competitors in head-to-group yield comparisons. NK1082-DV had a 2.9 Bu/A average advantage over DEKALB products (N=278) and NK0007-AA had a 1.8 Bu/A average advantage over Pioneer products (N-807).1 NK18-J7E3 had a 1.1 Bu/A average advantage over Pioneer products (N-247) and NK33-W3E3S had a 3.0 Bu/A average advantage over Asgrow products (N=50).2

  2. Success stems from hard work, preparation and teamwork. Like many farm families, the JFR team is composed of two generations, and each brings an important perspective to the table. In racing, the team’s crew works quickly to take apart and rebuild the racecar between each round, similar to the “all hands on deck” approach that farmers take during planting and harvesting.

  3. Decisions are driven by data. The JFR team uses data to determine how elements like track temperature, weather and altitude can affect the cars. And of course, farmers collect a wealth of data and use it to identify the best products for their geographies, management styles and growing environments.

  4. It’s essential to select the right inputs for strong results and success. The JFR team manufacturers many of their car parts in their own shop. They also sell these parts to other racing teams. Likewise, NK Seeds licenses our proprietary germplasm to help farmers select the best options to get the right seed on the right acre.

  5. There’s much to do in the offseason. No time for a victory lap! Like farmers across the U.S., the JFR team is using the down time to gear up for next year — maintaining equipment, evaluating data, researching new techniques and technologies, shifting roles to match talents and, hopefully, taking a little time to recharge.

The 2022 season long ago rounded the final bend, but the NK Seeds team already has our eye on the starting line for the 2023 season.

Speed, precision and power is a winning combination on both the racetrack and the farm. It’s also the approach we use to bring forth innovative products, like our Field Forged series, to help farmers optimize every acre.
