Syngenta welcomes interns through Governor’s HBCU Program

Immersive professional experience will increase students’ competitiveness in the job market

GREENSBORO, N.C., USA, June 22, 2022 – Syngenta is welcoming four new interns to its North American headquarters in Greensboro this summer. Over the course of the next eight weeks, these students, who are participants in the North Carolina Governor’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Internship Program, will learn more about the company’s work in improving the sustainability, quality and safety of agriculture with world-class science and innovative crop solutions.

The internship program, which began in 2015, connects students matriculating at North Carolina’s HBCUs with major corporations and businesses in the private sector throughout the state. The summer internships are paid, full-time positions for rising juniors or seniors who have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 and are active in student and national organizations.

“This program isn’t just an excellent opportunity for the students, but it’s an opportunity for our organization to get to know a diverse pool of high-performing students who are interested in the work we’re doing to feed the world,” said Syngenta Early Talent Acquisition Specialist Elizabeth Cooper. “It’s just another way that we’re recruiting and retaining valuable talent right here in North Carolina.”

“We’re fortunate that North Carolina is home to so many excellent HBCUs,” said UNC System President Peter Hans. “Our world-class graduates are ready to put their skills into action, contributing to a thriving economy and bolstering North Carolina’s industry. My thanks to business leaders for welcoming and developing this diverse array of talent to serve a growing state.”
