As U.S. agronomy manager for NK Seeds, Todd McRoberts covers a lot of territory.
When asked to describe his job, Todd McRoberts quickly responded with, “I’m on the road every day in different states spreading knowledge and confidence in the NK Seed brand as a premier portfolio of hybrids. We use our technical expertise and firsthand knowledge to work with retailers and growers finding the best products for their region.”
McRoberts and his team have the unique ability to take a farm, acre by acre, and pinpoint which hybrid is best suited for the environment and conditions. They do this by first evaluating three things:
• Soil productivity
• Soil fertility
• Management practices
From there, they look at rotation, diseases and insect pressure, economics and any other concern the farmer might have. “Part of our job is to ask a lot of questions,” says McRoberts. “We need to be able to understand a grower’s needs and specific challenges in order to provide the right solution. Doing a lot of background work and asking discovery questions is just part of it. I train everyone on my team to be an agronomy detective.”
Whether it’s basic farming advice or talking about specific genetics, the NK team has the talent, the experience and the dedication to cover it all.
