The Challenge

Livestock and Climate Change

Livestock generate emissions and consume natural resources, which both have implications on climate change. At the same time, farmers must wait until their livestock mature before they can generate a potential return on investment.

The Solution

When Enogen® corn is fed to livestock, starch is converted to sugar more efficiently, which delivers more available energy to cattle.

After numerous studies, Enogen has been shown to increase feed efficiency by about 5% in backgrounding and in the feed yard1. This increase not only expedites the liquidation of livestock, but also has the ability to generate greenhouse gas equivalent (CO2e) savings equivalent to removing 35 passenger cars from the road for one year and energy savings to power 25 homes for one year2.

Enogen has been a key player in the biofuels market for 12 years and is well established in the beef and dairy markets through grain and silage products. Further testing is underway to determine the viability of expanding into new markets and benefiting other species.
