Syngenta names agriculture industry veterans to new technology acceptance and industry relations roles

Syngenta has promoted Jack Bernens to the newly created position of head of technology acceptance in North America, and has named Rex Martin his successor as head of industry relations, effective June 1.

In his new position, Bernens will work with public, private and government institutions seeking understanding and support for Syngenta seeds and trait technologies. Bernens will report to David Morgan, head of global corn and soybeans. Bernens was most recently head of industry relations.

Previously, Bernens served as business unit head for Syngenta Seeds Agrisure® corn traits business. He has nearly 27 years experience with the company, including working as head of NK® Brand Marketing from 1998 to 2004.

Rex Martin, the company’s state government relations manager, is elevated to head of industry affairs. Martin joined Syngenta in 1989 and serves as liaison for 16 state legislatures and regulatory authorities as well as more than 85 commodity, trade associations, professional organizations, regulatory and legislative groups at the state, regional and federal level. Martin will manage the company’s involvement with the award-winning Leadership At Its Best™ program. The specialized training develops key groups of agricultural leaders around the country who can effectively address Congress and the media on policy issues impacting farmers.
