Calliope® Geranium genetics continue to grow at Syngenta Flowers, Inc.

  • Well-known geranium series expands with new medium and large varieties
  • All new varieties showcased at the 2016 California Spring Trials
GILROY, Calif., USA, – Syngenta Flowers has introduced four new Calliope® Geraniums, which debuted at California Spring Trials. Renowned for their robust growth and superb heat tolerance, Calliope hybrid geraniums are now available in three new medium varieties and one new large variety.

Calliope Medium have a controlled habit and are ideal for quarts, two-gallon containers and hanging baskets, while the larger series works great for gallons to 14-inch and larger pots. Scarlet, Pink Flame and Dark Red join the Calliope Medium series. Pink is the newest color addition to the Calliope Large series.

“By expanding our Calliope Medium and Large series, growers now have more options available to them when it comes to interspecific geraniums,” said Jeff LaCourse, market manager, Syngenta Flowers. “Whether they are looking for compact, controlled habits or larger, more vigorous varieties, we have it in Calliope.”

In addition to the expanded Calliope offerings, Syngenta Flowers is also introducing more than 50 new and improved varieties for the 2016-2017 season, including these new series:
  • BeeBright™ and HoneyCluster™ Pentas – These pollinator-friendly varieties provide cost savings as they have a reduced production time compared to other pentas.
  • TopSpin™ Begonia – This early, uniform series can be finished cool with other spring bedding plants to lower energy costs.
  • Snaptastic™ Snapdragon – With strong stems and roots to support lateral branching, this new series has less breakage during production and transport.

“With these new varieties, our goal is to help growers better cater to the needs of consumers and retailers with a diverse, reliable selection,” said Melanie Fernandes, marketing communications manager, Syngenta Flowers.
