Pest Patrol from Syngenta delivers real-time agronomic alerts in 13 states


Syngenta Pest Patrol offers more information across more states to help Southern growers, retailers and consultants control pests and protect yield in 2021.

GREENSBORO, NC, April 22, 2021 – The expanded 2021 Syngenta Pest Patrol program brings local agronomic updates to subscribers across the South and East Coast. Pest Patrol coverage now includes updates on weed, insect and disease threats in a multitude of crops from local university experts and Syngenta agronomists.

“The program helps land-grant university extension specialists gain a wider audience for the information they generate and gives growers and crop consultants the in-season information they need to be more efficient,” says Pam Caraway, Syngenta communications lead.

This unique program from Syngenta offers timely updates on pest pressures and treatment recommendations through audio messages direct from the experts themselves. Ag professionals and growers can listen to recent updates and sign up to receive future alerts for their preferred states at www.SyngentaPestPatrol.com. Subscribers receive text messages when an expert in a state they subscribed to uploads a new alert.

Alerts submitted by land grant university specialists and Syngenta agronomists cover pests in 13 states across major crops, including cotton, corn, soybeans, rice, sorghum and tobacco. 

Dominic Reisig, Ph.D., North Carolina State University extension entomologist, is a regular and long-time contributor to Pest Patrol. “It’s one of the methods I use to get timely updates to farmers and crop consultants during the growing season,” he says. “Our extension participants tell us that this is the program they receive the most positive feedback from.”

Mississippi-based Syngenta agronomic service representative Tripp Walker started posting alerts in 2020 when growers needed in-season updates on the regulatory status of herbicides. “I use it when I need to provide more information than I can fit in a text message,” says Walker, who encourages growers to sign up now for the 2021 season. “The alerts are focused and precise, and have been well-received.”
